It is absolutely code for being understaffed. If I see those words, I run the other way. Those are giant red flags in a job listing.
Yeah I think so too, it’s unfortunate for desperate people who need a job asap tho as having to run round being 5 people at the same time🙃

Not the fast paced environment part. The wear many hats-YES! That means they are likely purposely leaving positions unfilled so that you will be tasked with doing multiple jobs and getting paid for one
Yeah it really sucks!!
In retail, that does tend to be the case, I’ve worked in retail for many years. I personally don’t mind it usually, I like being busy.
It’s usually only retail though! Anything to cover up the short staffed!
Sometimes they are mindlessly added buzzwords, so it's hard to know when they are an actual red flag or not. "wear many hats" concerns me the most out of two, because they are basically admitting that they are disorganized and that will be on you to deal with.
Yeah it’s defo a red flag I think!

It can be both. Sometimes it is just standard HR wording, but in retail it often does signal lean staffing and high expectations. The real tell is during interviews. Ask how they handle peak coverage and what support looks like on busy days. Their answer will tell you more than the listing ever will.
Yeah I think it just depends!

I read that as a warning sign more than anything else. It usually means you’ll be stretched thin and expected to cover multiple roles without extra support. Definitely worth asking specifics in the interview before assuming it’s just standard phrasing.
Yeah I definitely think it’s a warning sign! But if you’re desperate then it’ll do I guess!

I don't mind fast paced but wearing many hats is a red flag.
Yeah I think I agree!
