Only one way to learn
With four kids myself I have never put anything on the edges of countertops or tables. If they bump into the edge it is usually at a walking pace and no harm done. Anything faster and they just rub their head and shake it off. They learn quickly to avoid those sort of obstacles.
This was an ongoing issue for us too. I’m not that worried about the edges but we placed a tall garbage can right below the overhang. The kids learnt to avoid it. You could alternatively place a shelf of some sort there - not aesthetically pleasing but effective. With my kids, we decided to relax our aesthetic requirements a bit
These on the underside. 3 years and going strong on our countertops. All other brands are garbage. Only need corners not full edges. Corner is a really bad time. Edge knock is just a learning experience.

Agree regarding rainbows, excellent point. But what does the floor mat mean!?... MF E3 OJ. Nice toasted coconut colorings on that cat though. Also, moving the bouncer could limit counter-to-head interactions
Pool noodle. Cut a slit in one side. Put over edges
I think my boy would rip this off too quickly
Leave it as is. They will learn quickly to avoid or slow down. All it usually takes is one good clunk and he won't do that again.
I also went minimal with child proofing, only doing stairs and things like that. The cleaners etc. I moved to a locked closet in the laundry room.
So far all four have survived with no hospital visits, so something went right.
They quickly get good enough to avoid the edges, at least for mine. I taped some foam padding to the corners on my outdoor patio table, since it was sharp. Parent life > aesthetics. I also removed the knobs on my receiver to avoid volume play.
I’m here with the “they’ll learn” crowd. We teach our daughter how to live in the world rather than trying to child-proof life
That’s my point about corner vs edge. We’re light on child proofing, but downside risk of top of stairs and cabinets with poisonous cleaners is too great. Only takes once... no chance to learn.
We don’t childproof pots and pans etc. worst case, they make a mess and noise. Nbd
This is the area I'm more worried about. To get to the kitchen and dining you can go infront or behind the couch. If he goes behind he'll probably knock his head.
Mine and 3, 5, and brand new. This will be fine. 1-2 knocks, 1-2 dad saves
This is what we use. Slips on, was foam from a mirror or furniture shipping. No glue or anything, just found the right size.
I know this is late, but hope it helps. It's an Ikea product. They also have something for plug points that's very well thought out.
I would also strongly recommend their wood-based toys for Montessori learning.
