After a decade in consulting, I still get nervous before presentations.

That’s classic. Consultants love to belief that they are suffering from imposter syndrome. But most are actually imposters- so you get nervous because you are never sure about your own buzzword laden nonsense. Like I get if you are just starting , but after 10 years- bruh that’s a big problem

It’s a fascinating thing. I have never seen an engineer unsure about doing a demo or an architecture review after 10 years of doing the work. But a con is always a con

I have seen seasoned engineers give confident demos that don’t solve any issues and can not translate to business needs. I absolutely see the same with seasoned consultants. Being nervous is good, It means you care about the impact. Continue to focus on the audience and remember that your job is replaceable and only serves the business end goal, consultant, engagement manager, engineer, anyone.

A HR question I really want to understand. ISRS HR quoted a podcast "The not so great resignation" saying 70% regret leaving and many want to go back to old employer. If this really the case the employee likely left due to higher pay at the new company. If they want to boomerang back they will likely come back at even a higher rate than they left the new company for. So getting double raise when they boomeranged. Isn't it unbeneficial, why not just give employee a 7% raise in the first place?

All these weddings are blowing my mind and budget. I've had 5 weddings so far this year with several more to go by EoY. On top of that I've been asked to be in a lot of them which adds additional time commitment and cost. The cost of a bachelor party + shitty men's warehouse suit rental + travel and airbnb for the weekend + couple hundred bucks for wedding gift means I'm blowing tons of money for these weddings but I feel bad to say no.
