I really think that the insurance policy given by mediassist is way more expensive for parental insurance, means who will pay for 50k+ premium and that too for large copay, I guess the leadership team should intervene here....Parental insurance is really important for any employee and most of the time is only needed.
Recently I used parental insurance and found that the insurance company only paid for 50% of the total bill.

Off topic: I am stuck in a service based company for last 4 years in a shitty project. The work I do can be done by a 12th grader. Now i want to move out by learning something new & changing my domain. But the thing is I am not able to study because I am stuck in a comfort zone and learning new thing gives me bad anxiety. It feels like I will never learn & be forever stuck here. Pls help on how to come out of comfort zone, learn things and apply for the job. Tata Consultancy Infosys Wipro

What! That is a preventive service and should be covered 100% 2x a year. Was your dentist in-network?
@OP- there you go! I learned this lesson long time back dealing with parents’ insurance. I am sure you will use it as lessons learned for future now. Always make sure with all medical facilities that they are in-network before making appointment (not limited to dentist only)- including lab work.
Also, you can use your FSA/HSA to pay for this
Turns out “212 Dental" in New York is out of network so I’d have to pay out of pocket. I pay $6 every pay check for dental. I deserve to get my teeth cleaned for free every six months. Now, I just need to find out who is in network in the NYM area.
And yet all of these folks who decry single payer or Medicare for All because they will lose their choice of PCP. Come on y’all, you’re just letting insurance companies tell you who you can and cannot see for medical care instead of the government of your peers...
Because health insurance blows in this country
I went to 212 dental as well 2 days ago and told me to pay the same amount, 116$. But when they called me first they told me 160$ then they decreased to 116..i will do the laser session friday and will not go back anymore there
So the facility is not in-network?? They have been calling me for so long at the end I found time to go there. I did a repayment plan for 5 months paying 23.20 with my HSA card
P1- that appears to be the case. Not in-network, hence the bill. You get free cleanings and xrays twice a year with an in-network provider
Dentist are crooks
This is the reason I don't do the dental care. My dentist cost 100 for checkup and cleaning. I do every other year dental insurance
