If you want the cheapest route:
- 6-pack of minoxidil (generic Rogaine) from Costco or Amazon’s private label
- go to a dermatologist and have them prescribe you Proscar (5mg finasteride), get a pill cutter and cut it in 4.
I think keeps/hims Propecia (finasteride 1mg) will run you maybe 240 for the year. After insurance the proscar comes out to like 15 a year… it’s worth the extra effort since you’re gonna take this stuff for life
Shave off everything it’s great

In a similar boat as you. I’m 25 and hair thinning/balding runs in the family. I started to take Keeps Finasteride daily for roughly 9 months. About 3 months in it reduced the amount of hair falling out and I noticed some hair growth on my hairline where i used to have hair. Ultimately I noticed it affecting my libido and decided it wasn’t worth it for me at this point in time as my hair loss isn’t drastic or even noticeable, probably just me overthinking it. It definitely works takes about 3-4 months to notice.
I’ve tried them all. Formulate.co is my new favorite. Just shampoo/conditioner but has turned my hair into a weed. You could prob combine with rogaine for even more imapxt
A1 - it grows fast…
Definitely recommend being proactive about it (I was not and regret it). Of those 2 I tried hims and it agitated my scalp. Everyone’s different though 🤷♂️
Also, I would only get the hair drops - plenty of better biotin shampoos and the rest of it on the market
I use hims but they both offer the same product. I’d recommend just getting minoxidil from your local pharmacy and using that. I’ve seen some great results from it. I use hims only for finasteride but I doubt you need that unless you see actual bald spots.
I notice I get more acne flare-ups while using finasteride. At 27 years old I feel like giant pimples are more embarrassing than thinning in the front of my hair so I have stopped taking it
I’ve tried both, and Rogaine. Hands down, Rogaine was the best. Saw results in 3 months, whereas I’m not sure I even saw results with Keeps.
Could be in my head but I believe Hims and Keeps are marketing too hard these days. When’s the last time you saw a Rogaine ad..
What would you guys recommend for someone who’s 24 with thick hair and no signs of hair loss yet? Family does have a history of balding so I also want to be proactive but feel like taking finasteride right now may be overkill especially if it affects libido?
My hairline started thinning at like 19, shaved it off at 27 and my only regret was I didn’t shave it earlier. Lose some hair, make sure you stay in shape, grow a beard if you can and look gorgeous
