How?
By having a strong and consistent program of recovery. U cannot do it by ur self. If u try u will relapse. I have seen that 100% of the time addicts have tried. Second, when people at work offer u a drink or drug, tell them u r sober and it was getting to be a problem. People will respect u for that. People that u didn’t know are sober will reach out and help u. Most likely a senior executive. Just about everyone will relate as they also love an addict. No one is immune from the devastating effects of addiction. Honestly is the answer. U don’t have to share ur darkest secrets but just that u are sober. Support and empathy will come. The key is honestly. And u are also creating a barrier now. People know so u will be less likely to relapse. It worked for me and I am 16 years sober in a biz that lives on the road and in bars. Don’t be surprised if someone reaches out for help as well. We all struggle in some way yet many of us hide it so well. If people judge u, screw them. That’s their issue and not urs. Bottom line is the agency WILL support u. Not just from compassion but by law
