I've been an individual contributor for 4 years in Tech, have 8 years of experience total. I'm finding it difficult to make the management transition despite having management experience, performing beyond expectations, and having a genuine passion for enablement and development.

Fiancé is at Kearney. He constantly is worried about lay offs and losing his job and thinks leadership is hiding how bad this is. What can I say to him/is it actually so horrible there?

I really like my firm and role here but working from home has made it difficult to stay engaged. Also, it doesn’t help that I’m constantly working on reports when I’d rather be doing more client facing projects. I already made some adjustments in order to stay active (upgrade my set up, exercise before I start work, take constructive breaks.) Our firm told everyone no bonuses this year due to the pandemic. However, people like myself with high utilization received a “bonus” in terms of a gift card. My director notified me of this, but the other day my boss was mentioning how no bonuses this year really sucks. I was told by the director to not mention it to anyone but I figured if anyone knew I got one it’d be my boss. I feel super uncomfortable now because do I essentially lie to my boss because I’m not supposed to talk about it.
