Any tips for gaining confidence when speaking in-front of a crowd?? I struggle so much, but one on one I’m totally fine

Something that can help is making sure you know your material thoroughly, being confident about what you're saying can reduce one's nerves. And it's good to practice ahead of time, even just rehearsing in front of a mirror can help. Something else that comes to mind is to try to say something funny or or amusing early on, if you can get people to laugh it tends to relax everything.

Absolutely, I think that is mainly what I get nervous for. If I am asked a question I don't know the answer to! I don't want to look silly... Ahh yeah that is a lovely idea trying to make a bit more fun at the beginning! Thanks so much

Video yourself. Read books outloud. Recite outloud podcasts as you listen.

Practice. I have anxiety and the only thing that made giving presentations any easier was practicing. It's like exposure therapy. The more you do it, the less nerve-racking it gets.

I feel like I avoid it as much as possible, as I also have anxiety and even just the thought of it makes me feel horrible! I know the more I do it, the easier it will be. Just need to take that first leap and get the first time out of the way.

Honestly same. I’m very confident 1:1, but once the group grows I shut down

Hello fellow Protiviti members. I have currently been in talks with the company about moving on to my next career opportunity at the Boston or Atlanta offices and want to get an idea of what life is like working for the company. I currently work for PwC, I'm sure some of you come from big4 and understand the low salary, long hours, and office politics that PwC and other big 4s bring. Do you enjoy working at Protiviti more than PwC? How is work/life and travel requirements? Reinvest stuf requird?

Unfortunately was dragged into an audit despite the fact I don’t work in audit. Why does audit RM say yeah your hours will be 50 hours/week when you’ll have to work way more to do the audit. Seems very dumb - if you have work do it, if not don’t work…

Seeking advice: I am a young sales consultant and sales engineer working for a tech startup company. I have 6 years of sales experience. And I have been helping run my family business for the past 10 years. I was intially interviewed for a senior account executive position at a $70k offer. Instead they told me I needed more training and hired me as a Junior account executive at a $50k salary + commission. Today is my 6th month mark and I have done very well. And no talks of a promotion / raise..
