It’s awesome! GREAT tennis community. Get friends made and a ton of us are in one WhatsApp thread! It won’t take long for u to get plugged in. There is a downside, tho, Westside is steadily moving away from being focused on tennis and more towards family centered. We’ve lost a lot in the past few years - no more tournaments, Wed drop in drills, Friday mixers, and lost several courts due to a giraffe lol 😂 enclosure and pickleball. It’s sad. I’d still recommend it tho, if you love tennis!
The best decision I made after moving to Houston 6 months back
It has tennis , pickle ball now (sacrificed some courts for this), indoor stadium with soccer, basketball, ball machines , recreation facilities like adult and family pools, lazy river, arcade, play area, bowling , animals , mini golf
It’s too many for such low fee ! We love it here and yes getting a group is very easy - I manage and collaborate in one of the evening WhatsApp groups … DM me if you need more details
Thanks all! Great info. Might consider joining in a month
Thanks for the info! How difficult is it with booking courts? I’ve heard about the giraffes…
And you have to have 2 people to book. It really annoys me that tennis people are being stripped of a lot but having said that, it’s still worth the great community and tennis opportunities. Westside in general is the best deal in town (and most unique) when it comes to recreational facilities and clubs. Look past the negatives if u love tennis and want to get plugged in, I think you’ll love it.
Isn’t it insanely expensive?
I second what Senior Director said! It’s a great community. And no it is not expensive considering all you get for what you pay. I’m single and I pay $1575 a year. If u look at what Country clubs cost it’s a steal. In fact I think u get more than what they offer wo the stuffiness. An amazing community for tennis (20 cts), gym, yoga, zoo, video rec, ball machine, basketball, hitting cage, putt putt, lazy river, 3 pools, volleyball, spinning, cafe, adult bar, tennis camp for kids., plus annual parties on holidays. Really a unique place. I might be on that same WhatsApp as the previous texter lol.
No sign up fee that I can remember, just the annual fee. If it is it’s not large. No partnerships Westside is one of a kind. Go there and you’ll see what I mean. Very unique.
If your just looking for tennis only , great communities around lost forest , chansllors , of JCC. I don’t have a family so don’t need the extras just other people who are into tennis.
That’s exactly what I said…that I just need tennis only. However, for the cost, you get a lot more for your buck.
