Might impact mortgage rate, application for credit card in the UAE…

If you move your salary base to the KSA, kiss goodbye to all your banking relationships - loans, mortgages, credit cards, etc. in the UAE - as they base all their product eligibility on your base salary in the UAE. The moment you move your salary base, your UAE banks will close your accounts and harass you to settle all outstanding payments.
Unfortunately KSA banks truly suck monkey balls.
Not true. Mine (ENBD) didn’t do anything - business as usual. Of course u can’t get a new credit card or a loan, but existing cards, bank accounts continue. I didn’t have an existing loan, so can’t say about that.
Not entirely true. Your existing banking relationships, cards can continue. But anything new won't be possible. New credit cards, new mortgage, existing mortgage re-financing, etc.
Oh, damn. Which bank was it? Did you have a GV?
My credit card is with a different bank, so maybe that's why it stays. And I was able to convert my salary account to a regular account.
Did you have any workarounds you discussed with HR? Half half salary split or something?
They do splits at Kearney but only at partner level.
I had this done, didn't impact my credit card (maybe because I hold GV). You can get a mortgage but you will get up to 60 percent financing and a little worse rate than if you have a local salary.
Other than banking, you could have trouble (if you need it of course) with getting visas for travel like UK/EU. Like some countries check your bank account and see salary transfer, to match with salary letter provided. If you are not consistently transferring money (on monthly basis AED equivalent) , this can be an issue for consultates to check and corroborate. Plus I know HR provides a salary letter in the UAE equivalent but I find it technically shady (think about it, they say in the letter you get the AED salary equal this much which is not true, you don't get any AED salary). I have always asked HR to say they That I have dual contract with salary coming in KSA but they would never do that. Don't know why is that though.
