1st switch - 2.7 years
2nd switch - 3 months
3rd switch - 11 months
It hardly matters these days , now staying back in one org for years is old school type.
Career growth and better pay is what matters these days.
Yes after some years you can stay little longer in one of the orgs , to cover up all your switches and then get into leadership. This is what a new cake walk is in IT to leadership.
It's a Very Good Practice in the long run. Your portfolio of Various Industry standards, Domains, Tech stacks will be almost the top 1%.
Most people who get into comfort zones and do not see much growth, are the ones who call Switching as something like traitor would do.
Ignore them.
I have seen N number of people who had switched when they felt multitude of reasons. And almost all of them have the best portfolios. They Lead in the frontline of technologies.
In contrast, one who stays longer in one Company has very stale skillset which sometimes is not at all Trainable further or Hirable later on. These people are also the burden of the teams IF the project is new or some module is new which has even some parts that aren't what they know of. These people are also the most afraid to switch, because they believe "How will i find a job, i don't know all this".
I have a Job Referral Network with 66000+ People in a Network of Networks. Most of them are experienced in the Industry. I am running it for 6+ years now. I believe that gives me a right to express my opinions on the subject matter.
Trust me I am not one of them
Who defines bad ?
Believe me the recruiting team don't give a damn about it if they need to fill open positions asap.
If they anyhow point out also that means they want to lower your salary expectations.
Worst case is when they have 2 candidates and they want to reject one while shortlisting itself.
In short, everything depends on market conditions.
@Infor 1 - It's common sense that the most important think for them are the required skills. Rest all are secondary.
I am telling this on basis of channel check I did with my friends in recruiting in few MNCs.
Every company has his own ethics and it no crime.

Not really, I have 7.5 years experience, currently I am in my 6th company. I have spend 2 years in 2 months. 4 months in 1 company, 1.3 years in 1 company, 7 months in 1 company. Now I am shortlisted for my next role. If all about situations, work culture, salary and lot of things. in my 1st 3 jobs I was terribly underpaid, after switching I was able to get good pay. So there is nothing wrong in that. I have seen managers, senior managers in EY just spent 1 years and switch to other companies. Now am about to switch to my 7th company.
I am in my 15th job in 12 years of career and though it may look bad on one's Resume, I am a person not a piece of paper.
More importantly, if an employee doesn't play opportunistic, he/she will be on the losing side coz we never know when our organization won't need us and will make working conditions harsh or just prefer laying off.
@Project Manager1: I definitely am not in a role you would hire for. Remember I talked about rare work profiles here.😊

Third - 1 year 4 months
Fourth company - 1 year (Infosys)
Currently in my 5th company (IBM) from last 9 months and will serve here for 2 more years.
And if i get good hike during promotion...then will stay more. Otherwise
HR won't think too much...they just want to fill a vacant seat. And that's it. But yes .. after 40 yrs of age...one should stay with a company for long
I switched 3 companies in 3 years. 😎

I switched 6 companies in 7.5 yrs
sometimes HRs in big MNCs might look at your switch trend while negotiating salary...but it all depends upon how good you are and how badly the company needs a resource of your technology.
What do you think about my switch histroy
