Anyone ever get an offer, but something in your gut says “don’t take it”? I had one where everything looked fine on paper but I couldn’t shake the feeling it wasn’t the right fit. Curious if you’ve been there and what you did.

Yes. The problem is how to tell between normal trepidation and true issues.

Leaving something you know for an unknown company, role, boss, etc is always a little worrisome (at least for me). I have had interviews where it was clear to me that the role was not a fit for me

Bottom line, listen to your gut feeling however realize that it's not perfect. Don't let your fear of the unknown preclude you from taking a good opportunity.

Yes, and I tried very hard to figure out what subtle thing was making me feel that way. Had to talk it over with some people and finally concluded that the offer was fine, but it just wasn’t a good fit for me.

A few times. It was never anything perceptible, just a gut feeling I couldn't bring myself to ignore. Listening to it was made easier by still having a job to fall back on. Had I been out of work, I would have had to ignore that feeling and accept.

I've agonized over a few decisions and found that on the occasions where I didn't listen to my gut, I should have.

Yes - twice. Both times trusted my guy and glad I did. Good luck, OP!

what is right for the rightrous

Gut feelings are like internal recruiters. Sometimes they know more than the job description!

Yes and I took the job and regretted it

Ever gotten a job offer but your gut screamed no? That’s happened to me twice.

The first was a disaster waiting to happen: three managers, exhausted staff, a superhero-level role with crazy overtime. When I asked the biggest problem, management said, “We’ll tell you once you start.” Red flags everywhere.

The second was a small company with obvious favoritism in hiring. Management couldn’t get their act together, but that was a golden opportunity for me—to introduce systems, replace the hero culture, polish my resume, and know I’d stay no more than two years.

Both taught me: trust your gut, spot red flags early, and sometimes chaos is the fastest path to career growth.

Please, I need your opinion on this. I have 6 years of experience as a software developer and just finished my masters degree in data science. Now I am looking for a job here in the US. They emailed me back saying that I am no longer in this process anymore with no further explanation and in Thanksgiving day. Is that normal?that email really got me very upset

I have a question, I got a contract role through a recruiter. Initially the recruiter offered the hourly pay rate which was the minimum in my range. Now I got an offer from the company. Now without me asking her she increased the hourly wage to the maximum range I asked. Which makes me doubt if the company increased it or she knew the rate all along but gave me the lower rate ?

I'm looking to find a job like the Forward Deployed Engineer role Palantir Technologies in the UK.

I have become hooked on finding a job that involves solving the kinds of problems they presented during their interviews. Although I got to the final round my performance anxiety got the better of me (I think I wanted the job a bit too much...). I will reapply after working in a similar company.

Is it "deep tech" / "data science" or "smart enterprise" that they're doing? Any advice welcome.
