Yeah, we know.
Yes, I have Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering. Now I build PowerPoint decks.
I have a Psych degree and I’m in finance.
Funny how life ends up that way
Cell and molecular biology. Now working in client services, haha.
Yep, I have a Marketing degree and been working as a graphic designer for last 7+ years.
Good for you!
The next question for me, given how hard it is to find work, would the lack of training/background in advertising pose a problem if you find yourself in the job market again?
It hasn’t so far. In my experience, relevant work history trumps what my degree is in. All they care about is my work history + that I have a degree
I dropped out after 4 years of music conservatory. It was pricey too.
I studied English lit and minored in communications. I consider both super applicable but the only time an English degree gets taken seriously is when you’re lecturing or when someone is arguing about Shakespeare and needs a referee.
I have an M.A. in English lit and feel it’s helpful in both strategy and account management roles. Advertising (at least pre-AI) is all about critical thinking, understanding sub-text, and clearly expressing yourself. Not to mention I can easily discern great writing from shit, and there’s a lot of the latter.
i studied bio and i’m in finance lol
