Mine were 3 years apart and I considered a wagon but didn't really want to spend that much and have another giant thing to store. From the video reviews, it didn't look like it is easy to throw it into the car either.
Bought a piggy bag board for our Uppababy Cruz and it works well. Most of the time the oldest wants to ride her scooter to the park anyway.
If you like to babywear anyway, why not do that and see if you really need a wagon?
I second the piggyback.
We skipped the rumble seat since our 3 y/o is huge and prefers to walk anyway. The piggyback add-on is clutch though. He hops on when he wants and it takes up little space. I don't think he'd stay in the wagon unless it was after extensive hours of walking in the heat with no visual distractions.
We have a Veer wagon and later upgraded to a Wonderfold - and we absolutely love both! Far superior to a stroller in most situations from our experience. The Veer especially has a great wheels and you can haul it anywhere, and it’s easy for bigger and smaller kids to get in and out. We have kids ages 8 down to 4 mos and they can all ride :)
My best friend has the Veer and she loves it, it’s definitely more compact for a wagon, but still very utilitarian.
I have a Keenz XC+ and I love it. It’s MASSIVE, but it’s like the Cadillac of wagons. So much storage and big wheels for a smooth ride. When I was looking at the comparable Wonderfold it was actually like 5lbs lighter which is what sold me on it cause the thing is already like 50lbs. I drive a Ford Edge and I can fit it in the back easily (takes less than a minute to pop the wheels off).
My kids are 4 and 1 and my older one basically refused a stroller after she started walking… but that girl would walk 2+ miles without complaining 🤷🏻♀️ I tried a rider board and she hated it, but she likes the wagon.
I baby wore with all 3 of my kids and never owned a stroller. We were gifted a Keenz 7s wagon, which I loved. They no longer make that model, but they do have amazing products still. I'd definitely recommend a wagon over any upgrades or stroller gadgets. My oldest will still hop in the wagon from time to time to just take a load off (when we're at the zoo and stuff).
When I had my second I was convinced I needed a double stroller or add on seat. I am also a baby wearer and my kids are just over 2 years apart and tall for their age. I never used the double stroller. I would just give it a go without it and then buy if you need it.
I have a veer wagon and love it. It’s been everywhere from Germany to Hawaii. We got the uppababy car seat attachment for our baby. We can still push around our 5 year old and 5 month old. It’s great. Totally worth every penny and travels well.
We have a Larktale (got on Facebook marketplace) it is awesome! My 7yo and 3.5yo fit in it super comfortably so lots of room to grow with you.
When I had my second, we didn’t do a double stroller either. My older would ride his scooter or a tricycle.
We have a veer wagon. Kids 3 years 4 months apart. My older one always hated the stroller. Idk what it is maybe the ability to sit upright. He refused to sit in the stroller once he started walking but will sit in the wagon. The wagon has a car seat attachment so we currently use it with our 5 month old as well. I don’t find it particularly convenient to put in the car but def our go to for walking our dog around the neighborhood and to the park.
