Yes. Huge in-house demand in this space.

Sure, if you likely dont want to litigate. Product and privacy can be super-interesting!

What are your goals? For me, product counsel is the dream job, so the answer would be yes, absolutely, run don’t walk. But if you’re harboring notions of being a biglaw litigation partner or an AUSA or a judge or something … probably not.
I came from IP lit and love my job. You won’t do any litigating, but your issue-spotting, research, writing, and advocacy skills will all come into play.
I went from general commercial lit and absolutely love being a product counsel. Second everything that was said about transferable issue spotting, etc. skills.
Hi Amazon1 — thank you for the insights. Curious to hear about your experience with product counseling at Amazon (eg, what kind of products you work on, what your typical day looks like, WLB, etc.). Also, if you wouldn’t mind sharing your overall experience at Amazon, how that transition has been from law firm space to in-house, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
I second everything they said.
Can someone explain what a product counsel does? I’m currently in commercial litigation and I’m curious how my skills are transferable.
Thank you both for taking the time out to explain! Very much appreciated!
