Rising Star
Usually, it’s not a matter of clout or connections with preschools (as opposed to private schools), but a letter of following the steps. If there is a day to call to get on the list- call at the exact first moment, etc.
Usually preference goes to those with siblings in the school. Then I think they make sure there’s a good balance of boys/girls. So it’s a bit of luck/chance. Not sure where you’re located, but there tends to be A LOT of movement once families commit to certain preschools and they make their way through the waitlist. In SF, we were waitlisted at 4 we applied to, and eventually got in to 3. Don’t stress!
Unfortunately he’s the only one, so no sibling connection for us to lean on. Out of curiosity, how long were you on the waitlist before you got in?
The community connection helps. Like another poster said, a lot of times if you wait a spot opens up by the fall. It’s stressful to wait though.
