Managing a team who is responsible for multiple channels doesn’t necessarily afford you the higher pay but if you yourself have expertise in multiple channels, that’s different.
Cont. managing 2-3-4 channels in actuality? (Like social + search, display, programmatic)
At that point, are you asking for more money and how much more do you ask for? I'm noticing agencies are trying to find that super star who can do it all but it's gotten much more complicated over the past few years.
Depends a bit on your level. If you’re truly director-level across all of those things then you should be getting paid pretty well. Simply working across multiple channels doesn’t necessarily mean you’d get paid more.
The theory is buying is becoming increasingly easy and automated. One can do more, one should do more because it is better to have a bigger understanding of multiple channels/disciplines.
Honestly, just applies to anything in general - buying, analytics, even the client side = brand + CRM manager.
At some point, if you want to remain relevant in the workforce, you need to learn how to work hand-in-hand with platforms & machines.
If you're given this opportunity, don't ask for more. Just do more, learn more, then ask for more. If you're given a new role elsewhere with these responsibilities, I suppose you CAN ask for more
Sometimes opportunity comes dressed up as "more work". Do it, learn, and grow.
