Made this move about two months ago. Your stress levels will decrease dramatically. Having lived in NYC for 10+ years, I didn’t realize how much background stress (away from your real stresses such as job performance, romantic life, etc) the city was causing me until I moved. The weather is always great and the vibes in LA are so feel good and happy you’d be shocked that this exists. Cons though are everyone is very slow, there’s some really self absorbed people here (you can avoid this by curating your friend group), and I would say people are generally stupider than they are in nyc and less career focused. Best of luck in your choice, I took a risk made the jump and can assure it has changed my life. For better or for worse, not sure yet given early days.
Tbh, It’s not what I thought it would be. It’s overhyped and expensive for no reason. Although it has its perks, it’s just not many compared to other states and cities
I moved to LA at 31 and promptly moved away at 32.
None of my issues are regarding COL or traffic. If you know what to expect it’s easy to build a life around those things that you can enjoy.
I was NOT prepared for the crime or seemingly lack of safety literally everywhere you go. I had several instances of homeless people coming into my yard or up to my doors / windows. A friend and I were followed by car and blocked in at an intersection possibly to be trafficked. I had 2 neighbors sexuall
