I wouldn’t worry about it. There will always be people who find it basic, but those same people carry bags that you find basic or don’t like. To me LV will always be timeless. If you love it go for it. My first luxury bag was the speedy and getting it made me so happy I can’t even tell you, the quality is amazing, and it goes with everything.
You aren’t wrong 😬
I never liked LV but it’s a personal thing I associate LV with some members of the extended family I don’t particularly like 💀
😂😂
Pro
LV is basic now. 🫣
@accenture1 I just can't bring myself to spend that money for LV on the coated CANVAS bags with some bits of leather. I really like how subtle the epi line is though
Do what your heart desires ♥️
Buy whatever bag makes you feel good and wear it everyday ( even at the deli). Life’s short
This is the only correct answer.
LVs are everywhere, I was at a kid birthday party last weekend and was the only woman there not carrying one. I get it, they are great quality, but personally I would prefer to have a slightly more original thought for the money.
This entirely depends on your social circle as well, and where you live. In some parts of the country seeing any bag that costs over $1000 is still rare. Personally I love the Speedy and think it is the more youthful option that also isn’t as ubiquitous as the Neverfull (and it has more structure to it). But I also have noticed the brands people buy to be “different” (like Goyard and YSL) have now become as common as LV. Ultimately buy the style you’ve always liked even if other people have it.
Yes I think Louis Vuitton is a bit tacky, it screams “new money” to me and is rather ubiquitous. I see the Alma BB, pouchettes, and neverfulls everywhere. Since you’re posing the question yourself you already associate the brand with a certain kind of person or style 👀. I think the only LV bag that stands out to me as classy and timeless is the Capucines style, which doesn’t have the monogram. But the Capcuines are $6,300+ so you could buy Chanel instead at that price point.
That being said, screw it if you have your heart set on it! If you have an elegant style of outfit, nails, shoes, demeanor, etc then your handbag will match your vibe. Similarly, if you have bad/overdone plastic surgery, gaudy nails, and a tacky outfit then even carrying a Chanel double flap won’t class up your appearance.
This is exactly how I feel in regards to the style of the person wearing it. What I’m doing now is thinking every day how it fits with the outfit I’m wearing. So far it would match with 90% of my styles and as I’m pretty minimal it doesn’t look tacky as a total. Instead it looks super classy! At least in my eyes 😋
I think the neverful is more basic and alma bb less worn. Also in DE
I don't buy bags with obnoxious logo print or huge logo hardware; to me, that's tacky. And once a brand starts getting knocked off a lot, I'm out.
I have both. Neverfull from 12 years ago but stopped using as it’s too common for me now and Alma less worn however it is becoming more common. LV price increases doesn’t seem to deter people. I still wouldn’t see it as tacky. I am moving on towards Chanel now and if you compare the both, well, Chanel takes the biscuit.
Work in the Finance world and I’ve been seeing a lot of quiet luxury with minimal logos. Goyard is a beautiful brand although it’s now becoming one of the many luxury brands being knocked off so everyone can have one now.
Also Goyard bags, although lovely and handcrafted, do not wear well and need regular maintenance/repairs. Moynat and Fauré Le Page are good alternatives too.

I suggest you try it out on yourself if the style is fit for you. I personally love the damier alma bb lv but don’t like some of the monogram design totes.
Good suggestion!
LV is an investment and a statement piece for years, you either love it or hate it… I have 4 LV’s, I have other big brands too…
For me it is about what I like and love, and these bags last me a lifetime… so very sustainable and fashionable in my opinion. If you want to part from your LV you can still get good money on a preloved website, so I look at it as a fashion investment. - just my 5 cents
Get the model and print you like, not what everyone else says! For me the wearability is key : does it fit iphone/ tablet / laptop is key to choosing a model
My alma BB in DE is my favorite bag. I think it’s a pretty classic bag as well.
Why would it be tacky? I have a semi-large collection of LV bags but I only get the classic looking timeless piece looking ones. I am currently carrying the Speedy B. I got rid of my neverfull because i hated how everything got lost in it and with an organizer insert, it just got heavy. the straps also were too short & cuts into your shoulder. If you're unsure of a brand new one *and price* look on eBay (from Japan only for me) and you can find some pre-loved pieces for a fraction of the cost. The older models are also better made, the canvas holds up better. The newer canvas they use now are prone to ripping.
not sure classics _can_ be tacky. if you wore it to like, a black tie event sure, but in regular daily life it’s just a nice staple that will make you happy when you wear it. just make sure you grab the right one if you set it down🥲
