Are most people in this group in a satellite office for larger agencies or in SF based shops?

LA: after months of layoffs and salary reductions, we are back! Looking to hire a rockstar LA-based Project Manager at our small independent agency. Will be moving to the Bay area for a new job which pays a bit under 200k. I know SF is very expensive so just trying to gauge what would be a reasonable amount to spend on rent. I have no debt and decent savings. Bringing my car with me and will be commuting to Marin most days, but looking to live in SF. Otherwise tend to be fairly frugal and like to cook.

Any thoughts/suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Has a partner ever come back and asked you why you spent so much time on certain things? Im a first year and this hasn’t happened to me at my firm and they tell us not to cut our own time, but my first firm (short stint, small firm) did this to me allll the time and made me feel guilty — so just curious if this has happened to anyone in big law.

How long should you leave your money in a manager before pulling for poor performance (I/O is aggressive and horizon is shorter term 1-3 years)? This hedge fund manager I’m using is supposed to be “cutting edge”, but after 4 months my return is 1.4%.
