I would move as close to Palo Alto as you can , traffic is ridiculous during rush hour so your quality of life will be better if you live closer to where you work .
Or, depending on office location, walking distance to CalTrain.
LOL ah man. It’s all pretty insane now. What kind of lifestyle are you looking for (do you need to be near a city center/schools, bars, etc?) And will you be taking public transit/tech shuttles/ have a car?
Redwood City, Daly City, and Pacifica are sliiiightly more affordable than SF, but you’d probably need a car in all of those areas. Within SF itself, Lower Nob Hill, Japantown, and the Marina are where you’ll find the cheapest studios, but you’re still looking at about $2k a month in those neighborhoods, on the low end. Good luck!
Marina ain’t cheap homie.
Adding to the above: Burlingame, San Mateo could also be options
Burlingame is so cute, too. And Caltran flies in and out of the city all day. So convenient. You can score a basic 1 bd there for about $2K.
