Honestly if it's made of metal / stones, it's just a short necklace. It does not matter. I have work such chokers to work and got promoted just the same with no comments on it. Stop letting others women tell you how to dress.
No girl. Chokers are for stripclubs. Go with a statement necklace.
Nooooo
I find a generally good policy is if you're not sure it's work appropriate, it isn't. Why risk it if there's no need?
No
I wouldn't

Man. So glad I asked the question. Whew
As long as it doesn’t have metal spikes, why not?
No
It depends. I wear this almost daily and it is definitely ok: https://www.catbirdnyc.com/sweet-nothing-choker.html
Late answer, but first MD I ever worked with at the firm wore a spiked choker to work. This was 8 years ago, and in a very conservative industry (insurance). She was a complete bad-ass and a really competent leader who made partner very very early in her career. Read the situation and determine if and when it's appropriate to wear such things and you'll be fine :)
Even on a classy/professional shirt?!
What if it's gold?
I have a simple gold choker (just a ring, no chain, no embellishments) and think something like that would be fine - but it probably depends on the firm?
Thanks guys! This really helped
I used to think they were always trashy looking until I had a VP of HR who wore a beautiful silver choker all the time. Her jewelry was all beautiful yet simple silver pieces that really defined her style. Even her earrings were simple upside down silver U’s through her large gauge piercings (maybe she was really goth back in the day?). She pulled it off, but few people do. If you’re going to do it you need to own it and the piece needs to be classy.
Would keep to 16 inches.
