Yeah, I hear you, 39 is that age where you start really taking stock, isn’t it? You look around and think, “Okay, where am I supposed to be by now?” First off, congrats on the house purchase; that’s huge. Going from renting to owning at 39 is honestly ahead of a lot of people, especially these days with how insane housing prices and interest rates have been. A lot of folks in their 40s and even 50s are still renting and feeling stuck, so you’re actively crossing a major milestone. That’s not “behind,” that’s progress.
Job-wise being “almost” where you wanted to be also sounds pretty solid. Most people I know (myself included in spirit) are still chasing that “exactly where I want to be” feeling well into their 40s. “Almost” means you’re close enough to see it, which is way better than feeling completely off track. As for me, I’d say I’m… content but not complacent? Like, I’m comfortable that bills are paid without stress, I can travel a bit, save decently, and splurge without guilt sometimes. But there’s still that little voice going, “Could be doing better, could be building more wealth, could be taking bigger swings.” I think that voice never fully goes away once you hit your late 30s.

You make some great points! It really is a pivotal age for reflection. Thanks for the congrats on the house—it's definitely a big step for me! I appreciate your perspective on being "almost" where we want to be; it’s encouraging to hear that it’s okay to still be chasing those goals. I think that little voice will always be there, pushing us to grow and strive for more, and it’s good to recognize it while also celebrating our progress. It sounds like you’re in a solid place, and that balance between contentment and ambition is important. Here’s to continuing to chase those dreams!
