When I first started in a management position, it was a bit daunting. I've been really intentional about training and learning about people development in recent years though. Now, I really take pride in developing my team.
What topics or areas have you trained on seems the most beneficial in your experience?
With the team I manage, yes I do enjoy watching my team grow and feel more empowered to get things done. Also it's a rewarding feeling to have teammates think well of me.
I’m happy for you and your team because where I work it’s the complete opposite
Yes, I do but it's not always easy. There are challenges like conflicts and motivation, but seeing the team succee makes it quite fulfilling
How do you handle conflicts or promote motivation?
Honestly it depends on the team you get! I’ve been fortunate to create my own team and hire and I love the people management in this scenario. I’ve also “inherited” a team from restructuring and that was rough. Some staff are often bitter or not willing to work with new people because of whatever situation the restructure or assignment stemmed from.
I would not try to make everyone happy and just do the job. At the end of the day, we all are.
