Every teacher has to have their own style. I've seen strict teachers and laid-back teachers be equally effective, and equally bad.
The common denominators for good teaching, imo, are clear expectations and genuinely caring about kids.
Kids can tell if you care, no matter what your style is, and they respond to it.
I agree, kids can tell
Most children these days do not get structure with no excuses. I think it is great!
I agree
I agree, students must be held accountable for their actions. I never made a promise to my children that I can’t keep because once trust is broken it’s hard to be repaid. Plus, what will an educator teach a student if they are just allowing them to walk away from their responsibility? I respect a teacher who has high expectations for their students and hold them accountable for their actions!
You can be strict and fair. Most kids long for external controls and limits bc they’ve not yet internalized these limits for themselves. The external limits coming from the teacher helps keep these kids on track
Be fair. Be strict.
I have sometimes more respect from students who I have held accountable. Plus they know I do not hold it against them and if I teach them again they know this. Kids need structure and sometimes we are the only ones giving them this because a lot of parents do not unfortunately.
I agree about parents
Love them!

Thats awesome. I wish I could be that strong. Glad the kids responded well over the long run because it doesnt always turn out that way
Thank you!
That's what we used to call learning a lesson!
