I heard a commercial on the radio for Verizon that said something to the effect that parents are now learning how to lesson plan. Are any of you off the hook for lesson planning? Just wondering because I’m over here busting my butt!

Getting a kid on a schedule is not lesson planning.

They just have NO idea! 😂

like

Yeah no—they have no idea what goes into lesson planning. Having a schedule is not a lesson plan. Keeping your own kid on a schedule is not a lesson plan.

We were given the same directive that we get every year...lesson plans must be “this and that” and must be submitted by 8 am Monday morning.
We’re on a hybrid also. Htf are we supposed to do ordinary lesson plans? I actually believe lesson plans as they have us do them we’re a huge waste of time; time better spent grading, find weak spots, working with students creating better assignments etc.

Most of my students are checking in but it’s doubtful they are there the majority of the period as their cameras are broken or they have anxiety and all I can do is ask them to turn on their cameras. I will stop the Zoom call and 3 names are still on the screen and not responding to me.

Not at all. Still doing ALL the lesson planning...

I am, but only because I changed jobs and schools. I am now facilitating all of the distance learning kids who are working through two different web-based curriculum providers. This allows our classroom teachers to ONLY work with the face-to-face kids. Unless of course the schools close again in which case they will then move their content online with their same kids and my kids and I will continue on as if nothing happened.

I have recorded all day today and yesterday.
I keep changing my top so it looks like different days. I volunteered for 2nd grade asynchronous with 2 live open office hours a day. I was still recuperating from back surgery and my principal and I thought it best...plus no one else wanted it...lol. I am allowed to work from home which is a blessing and a curse. I don’t stop working...like ever. People who chose to go to school everyday are having constant computer glitches where they lose sometimes up to 15 mins of instruction. No one realizes the work put in... the little OCD touches we put on everything...
and the countless hours spent tracking our students to ensure they are learning.

I have to turn in lesson plans for virtual learning and digital materials by 8:00 am every Monday. I don’t see a weekend in my future.

There is STILL no compass for being a teacher. There is no idea what our work consists of in COVID or in the classroom.

They also think they’re “homeschooling” because they told their kid to sit down and get on the computer 🙄
They have literally no idea.

To all the post-9/11 veterans, it’s a somber day that unites us all in the reason we fought. It’s easy to forget - especially with the younger generation having 9/11 be a history lesson rather than something they lived through. The waters became muddy with two wars and politicians, but you all stepped up and did your duty. Thank you all for your service, it’s an honor whether we crossed paths or not.

Monday Morning rumination: unsolicited advise is criticism.

Much to reflect on with this topic. Last week I was told in a 1:1 with a new contact that I was “too direct”. After some time chewing on the conversation I was struggling to place the emotions I was feeling. Turns out I was feeling guilty and shame for being me, for taking up space. Lesson of the week: unsolicited advice is a criticism of you, a micro aggression of who you are, and being “too much”. What would you do??

Did anyone else adopt the new Florida Wonders curriculum? We just adopted it this school year, and I teach 4th grade. My team and I have not found a good flow, schedule, or whatever you want to call it. We feel like it teaches too many skills in one lesson, and we are not able to truly teach anything “deep” enough for students to master. Does anyone have any insight? What do you do? Do you like the curriculum? Why or why not? Would you be willing to share what you do weekly/daily? Thanks!

My current role is hybrid with at least two days a week in office. However, with the potential economic downturn, I'm considering holding on to the role to supplement my income.

I'm new to the overemployed movement, so I'm evaluating the feasibility of holding onto the hybrid role and the remote position.
