Have any recruiters here noticed patterns in what makes a candidate stand out in this field? Open to all the advice I can get.

When you apply for a role, do you tailor your resume for that? If not, then that might be what’s hurting. Include some of the keywords from the role description in your resume. It’s a pain, but you should tailor your resume for each role you apply to.

It's just a tough job market, so it's harder than ever to get interviews. If you think your resume may not be clicking, do what you can to strengthen it. And if you've got an opportunity to write a cover letter, show some personality and a desire to get the job. A cover letter shouldn't be a rehash of your resume, but should highlight things that may not fit into the formal and stiff resume format.
