I was a PI para for 10 years and have been a PI attorney for 7 years (I do both pre-lit and litigation). Pre-lit is largely admin work. However, that admin work is what builds the value of the case. If you can master that, then your cases will be worth substantially more and will settle much faster.
This makes a ton of sense. I’ll strive to find a good system and cadence to get to this level!
What exactly is your role in managing them? I run my own firm so I do A-Z & my associates are expected to do almost the entirety of the work with prelit cases.
Intake, sign up, TCR retrieval, set up providers, maintain contact with clients, maintain contact with treaters, obtain policy limit info, maintain contact with adjusters, draft & put together the demand, negotiate settlements, handle reductions, etc.
I use a case management program called filevine to organize and keep track of all my cases; it also has scripts and functions that automate a lot of tasks too, which is great.
