Big law moms - is everyone on a flex schedule or are people somehow managing doing this at 100% capacity? What’s the secret sauce here? Even with childcare and a housekeeper, I’m getting my ass kicked.

Secret is having a SAHD spouse

This and working from home (less time commuting is more time billing or with family) are my secret sauce 6 months postpartum but still not 100% on target for billables. No daycare/pick up/drop off and I see my baby whenever I want. I'm hoping it gets even easier when she's weaned bc I currently nurse her through the day rather than pumping.

I literally do not know a mom in my office who isn’t reduced hours of some sort

like

I billed 2300 hours this year (fiscal year ended in November).

I have two kids and a working husband and no family around. I think the biggest trick is that my kids grew up and aren't toddlers anymore. My husband is hands on but he could definitely do more. You just deal with it and make it work if you have no other options. Ive seen moms who have options reduce hours or go in house or whatever else. But I'm the primary breadwinner and it will stay that way for a while and I personally want to be partner soon. So I make it work. If your priorities are different, then you prioritize those things

I’m at full capacity with a toddler, billed around 2000 this year. Have a nanny, part time housekeeper, and meal prep service. Husband works 5 days in office and I’m wfh 2 days. Typically log back in after bedtime on weeknights until 9/10/11pm and the grind really gets to me.

I'm full capacity because thats all I know/had to do. Was even a single mom in law school. Started w a 4yo and an infant. I'd love a housekeeper 😭

I’ve never been reduced hours, divorced, single parent have kids 100% of the time. M&A. It sucks, but you will adapt to whatever your life looks like.

Weekly cleaning lady helps, someone else does laundry.

I will say that I’ve met moms who had reduced hours at some point and they really liked that.
