Bring your whole self or authentic self to work is a trap - it’s only if you’re the right type for f authentic self they want to share (and even then you have to have the right shade or purple hair :p) I’ve worked at bigger companies and smaller companies- the bigger companies that use that slogan no one has ever been able to be their authentic self unless they get to be the ‘poster boy’ of diversity. Smaller companies you can actually be yourself but be honest in the interview process because in a small company of 30 people culture fit really matters - at a bigger company just hide and wear the same suit/bag as everyone else

I agree it’s mainly a nice idea and a way for a company to seem inclusive but it’s a trap just like “we’re all family”. It’s so hard to show enough of your self to seem authentic but not completely let down the mask to scare people off. I’m very lucky to currently be on a team where we are all basically neurodivergent so we can all unmask when we’re alone together and no one is singled out as a weirdo because we all are.
