Received an offer from the DOJ for a 2 year contract, doing work which seems more interesting/engaging than what I’m doing right now (insurance defence) - but for just over 9% less than I’m currently making, and the partner track has been outlined for me at my firm..feel like it’s not worth trading higher long term earning potential for contract + pay cut just because the work is more engaging..but on the other hand, ID is starting to bore me..thoughts/refs to anyone at DOJ would be appreciated

Hey freelancers...I usually raise my rates every 2-3 years. For those of you long-time freelancers, how often do you raise rates? And by what percentage? Looking to keep up with market/cost-of-living and yet, not price myself out.

My accounting edge finance is not compatible with the new Mac OS. I do not need the $15/month subscription they offering as an upgrade since I’m a lone freelancer. How is the freelance world looking in Chi right now?

Let’s say you have a project that you charge hourly for. The briefing itself/getting acquainted w the project was a solid hour. Do you charge for that hour?

I’ve come to a point where I just started at the green dot on my laptop camera when talking. I want to do the Errol Morris interrotron to get some sort of connection. The lack of eye contact or staring off to the side from other participants makes me think they have high anxiety or on the spectrum like rain man.

Friendly reminder folks- don’t work for Havas Health and You. They cut the freelancers hourly rates, again and made it so there’s no OT. The resource manager at HOV said if I couldn’t swing $80 an hour as an HCP copywriter, she’d have to find someone else. Good luck 👍🏻
