Crazy idea: Live in Chicago and do three days on-site in NYC, just until I am sure the FT job is the right fit. Have you or anyone you know done this?

I just flew in and out of NY for the day and I’m exhausted so no absolutely not

I used to fly to and from NYC every week for agency day at a client. Once you get used to it, and you learn how to work from the road, it’s not that bad.

Has anyone had success with convincing an agency to let you work remote, but come in for a week to nyc (or wherever) one week per month?

Did you have to pay for travel and lodging, or did they?

My immediate question is, how much are you getting paid that you think you can afford to do that for any length of time?

like

Well, I'm making $0 in Chicago, so I'm thinking $200K+ would just about cover it? My Chi rent is $1800/month.

like

A place to stay is the only issue. My room at Ace Hotel last trip was crazy expensive. 1600 for 3 nights.

Are they paying for your flight and hotel?

No

Yes. It was exhausting.

A year and it was only once a month.

I did it for a summer for an awesome freelance opportunity so the cost was worth it to me…and yes it was cheaper to do that than just get an AirBNB for a few months, but again, it was contract. For a FT gig I would just move. Not a good look to be new at a job and having to leave early or be unavailable because of traveling.

You must be rich!

Plan to go to B-school in 3 years (1 year out of UG now). Long term goal is entrepreneurship. Have offers at a MBB firm for a generalist consultant role and at FAANG for a strategy role. FAANG offer is slightly higher (though both are a 50+% bump on my current comp). Both would have me reset to entry level. Which one should I take?

I joined a new consulting firm and have been here for 6 months. Recently, a SaaS client (1k employees) that hired my old consulting firm reached out to me about a job opening - Lead BA working primarily to implement their benefit admin system for insurance companies. My current TC is 95k. Is it worth making the jump if the offer is north of 110k? Anything I should look out for? The client and coworkers were all nice, but I remember being stressed on the project due to limited resources.
