Hi Fishes
I would like to know about the client interviews (especially in data science or machine learning roles).
Are these interviews tough?
Are these interviews meant to assess technical knowledge? For example, what is binomial distribution, what are different data structures in python, ml algorithms etc.
I would request each of the nagarrians to share their thoughts irrespective of the technologies you are working.
I am thankful to you for taking time and helping me out.
Nagarro

MBB. People are brighter, and you get great training and a killer network early in your career. Faang will still be there in a couple of years.
MBB. Pay is similar, but B-school sponsorship, prestige, exit opportunities, etc. give the edge to MBB and is very worth it early in your career. If it was a product management position, then probably FAANG, but that’s not the case here. You can always exit to a FAANG strategy position at an accelerated level later if you like.
Disagree with the work being interesting and the WLB (good compared to MBB but one of the worst at FAANG e.g. lot more stressful than SWE), but yes PM is central to the company
Most people I know at mbb want to leave. Take the tech job.

So many people from MBB want to go to tech anyway, just go tech, it’ll be significantly easier to move around within tech afterwards
MBB
Wide range of experience compared to one company and industry
FAANG move painfully slower pace riddled with red tape to get anything approved and moving. I worked at Deloitte , EY and now being 6 months at Google. The culture difference is a shock. If you want to start your own business someday FAANG can give you a good insight to how to deal with difficult people and gets things done
What group were you at EY and now at google? Would love to get a reference point

Also, MBB has very strong ties to HBS, Wharton and Stanford. They actually help you to get into these schools, more so than FAANG.
Also 1 year out from UG - did you apply to FAANG with a recommendation?
I’m assuming this is sales ops & strategy? Don’t think traditional S&O take 1 YOE

What’s the role at FAANG and which one ?
Join FAANG if you can defer your MBB offer by a year (lot of times they allow that). Do 1 year at FAANG so that it gives you industry experience then join MBB to get broader client experience and sponsorship for business school. After business school come back to MBB for a year then exit to tech.
If you can’t defer I would say FAANG might be a better option for you going into entrepreneurship. You don’t really need business school for that so you can take a call after a year or two.
MBB with an emphasis on B ;)
