It’s pretty competitive now because it’s a hot area
What is your current practice area? Are you organically exposed to AI issues through that practice area?
Thank you so much! DMed you
absolutely BRUTAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not trying to piss on your cornflakes but you have more against you than for you.
-biglaw doesn't necessarily translate well to in-house
-product counsel roles are just hard to come by, generally
-everyone in a product counsel role in tech/fintech is probably already touching AI within their roles so it's really about integration
-you'll be competing against people that have years of in house and product experience
-over the next couple of years there will likely be even fewer roles because companies will try to do more with less; AI will absolutely help them do it
I'd say position yourself now. Go get certified in something to help you stand apart. Honestly, you might need to speed up your timeline. What you think you want to do in 2 years you may need to start applying for this year.
While I do think AI is overhyped, I DO think it will change the legal AI landscape. Hard to say was AI products roles will look like in two years — they are super competitor right now. Imagine that trend will continue (and there will likely he fewer portions to boot).
