Anyone here go in-house to Amazon from big law? If so, what kind of a pay cut can I expect to take? Currently 5th year on Cravath scale.

Have heard amazon is a mess -- search the posts you may be able to find it on here or in some of the other law bowls!

heard the same, sweatshop and terrible hours.

I received an offer as a fourth year which was slightly higher than my cravats-scale salary (but without bonus, of course). I would think you could expect 255-275 range, made up of cash and RSUs.

Good to know, thank you!

What other companies pay similar to Amazon buys have better hours?

maybe other FAANG minus Amazon?

Hasn’t been my experience so far that it’s a sweatshop. You will have a lot of responsibility but in much less condensed of a timeline than biglaw. I agree with the hierarchy statement though. It’s a big place so a lot of decisions will need to be “escalated” to your manager or their manager, not unlike a partner reviewing an associates work. But i find the “partners” here to be more humane people and better teachers.

Need in-law advice. We’ve been very careful with COVID. Our children are too young to be vaccinated. We are visiting parents-in-law (elderly, vaccinated) and sister-in-law (her and her husband vaccinated, two small kids aren’t but they arrived early and are past incubation period). This is an isolated lake house. Turns out this whole other family is staying in the house. We weren’t informed. They are not vaccinated yet all are eligible. One, a camp counselor, is now ill w/ fever, cough, etc.

Have any of your associations put out a climate and culture survey to your union members? I'm hearing that there are many districts that have surveyed their members anonymously regarding assessing the climate and culture within their school community.  If so, would you please provide me with a list of possible questions that you would deem to be appropriate and effective to gauge any possible issues?  Naturally, the questions need to be without bias and completely anonymous. No Google forms.

Another laid off case here. Anyone moving out of US considered keeping the 401K as is instead of withdrawing? Any pros / cons to keep in mind ? Pro I see is no penalty and the fact that it'll continue to grow till I turn 65. Con is that it's a decent size amount in my case and I might need some if that cash if I don't get a job soon 🙄
