Because I got a story. I was going to share this on Facebook, but perhaps this is a better audience.

When you're at a BAME (Black Asian Multi-ethnic) industry event, and one of the mentors from your company looks at you and say, "Oh, we work at the same company? Haven't we met before?" You're like, "No," and she's like, "Are you sure?" And you shake your head again, this time more firmly, "No, we haven't."

There needs to be more East Asians in the ad industry here in London. More East Asian faces = less confusion of whether you've met an East Asian woman like me before.

I felt so uncomfortable at that moment. Here I was, surrounded by BAME people, and this white (or at least white passing) person turned to me and almost confused me for another person who works in our company. I don't know what to call it - unconscious bias? Basic ignorance? - but goddamn, for this to happen smack dab in the middle of a BAME networking event... I can't get away from it no matter where I go. 🙄

I am doing a back door Roth IRA through Vanguard and while everything makes sense to me, I am unsure if an additional $6000 be invested for a non working spouse. We satisfy the criteria but two questions - 1) Is this still valid I.e., $12k can be invested for 2021? And 2) Any insight into how this is done - Vanguard doesn’t let me add more than $6k as it’s above the individual limit. I tried searching the bowl for specific answers but wasn’t successful. Inputs appreciated.

So here in CA there is a lot of talk about certain jurisdictions doing virtual jury trials. As a firm we won’t agree to it and if push comes to shove we’ll take it up on. Writ. What is everyone else’s opinion?
