Did anyone have what looked like a period then a preg test was positive? I just got a very definite double line on a test. But last week I had what I thought was my period. Cramping, had to take some pain relief, wore a pad because of some light brown blood, and it looks like it had stringy tissue in it (tmi). Yet test is positive. Wondered if I had a chemical pregnancy, but the test is still detecting the hormone?

That was my first kid. Turned out to be implantation bleeding. Massive cramps too. Look up differences between implantation bleeding vs period.

Had the same experience with implantation bleeding. Cramping, blood (but lighter than a full period), then couldn’t understand why I was soooooo tired for the next week. I was pregnant!

That's implantation bleeding, not a period. Positive pregnancy tests are usually correct. Go do a urine sample if you want additional confirmation.

Okay, thanks everyone. It’s because when I was looking online, the descriptions for implantation sounded super light, e.g ‘spotting’. Mine was very on and off over four days. Sometimes I need just a panty liner, on one day I needed a full pad. The cramping felt normal too, but only lasted half a day rather than my usual 2. I guess what I’m saying is the symptoms were more than I thought it was normal for implantation, but definitely less significant than a normal period. It’s so confusing. Now that nail-biting wait until the 12 weeks scan..

My doc office was happy to see us for an early ultrasound before 12 weeks, I think we went around week 9. Maybe see if you can get in then if helpful for your anxiety

I just had one day of heavy bleeding but it was significant enough that I for sure thought it was my period and then when it completely stopped the next day, I took a pregnancy test and had faint lines. Was indeed pregnant, but yes, significantly heavier than anything that was described online. When I explained to OB, she initially assumed it was a chemical pregnancy, but the lines just kept getting darker each day and that baby is now over 3 years old. Apparently that level of bleeding is still within what's considered normal.

I also went in for an early ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy around 6 weeks just due to all the confusion.
