For my pcos ladies on metformin, interesting news article. Be careful out there. The good news I hear is that metformin leaves the body pretty quickly so in 2 days you won't have it in you anymore. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/victoriaforster/2020/04/05/researchers-warn-that-covid-19-treatment-t

Was successful on our second try. Unexplained infertility, age 33. Due with twins in August!
Yay! How exciting
3 times without success for me. My insurance covers IUI but not IVF so I tried, but I think it’s like 11% chance of success per cycle and my fertility doctor recommended moving on if not successful by the third try.
Medicated IUI may make sense if you have known problems ovulating (those are the women I know who it worked for) or if your partner has performance issues, but for unexplained infertility (like mine) it wasn’t all that helpful.
At age 31 with unexplained infertility, my RE said an IUI cycle with letrozole would have 15% chance of success vs 65% chance with an IVF cycle. We went straight to IVF.
I do know two people with IUI babies though - it certainly works for some people.
I visited two fertility doctors and both said IUI has really low chances of working, especially if there is a male factor infertility. I’m going straight to IVF to utilize money wisely. It’s soo expensive, good luck!
Also took my good friend 4 times to get success - she may have been able to pay for a round of ivf by the time she did 4. She is having to go back to the doctor for baby 2.
My first ever IUI was successful at 34
At 37/38, I got pregnant the next go around on my 4th (miscarriage) and 6th (successful).
I agree with a previous poster that this method is helpful for women with ovulation issues (I have PCOS, no male factor issue) - I did IUI with clomid or letrozole + trigger injection each time.
And I’ve never been pregnant without assistance.
I think a lot of it will depend on your diagnosis - PCOS? MFI? DOR? Etc…

I got pregnant on second round of IUI. It didn’t stick unfortunately (unrelated to IUI) so we went to IVF after (for recurrent loss, so we could test our embryos). Now sitting next to our 2mo little boy. TLDR: IUI gives you a higher chance than trying “naturally”, certainly. IVF even more so, but is pricier and not always covered.
