Anyone here familiar with the hiring process of KPMG consulting in Van? Had a partner interview on Nov 21, thought the feedback was positive but haven't heard back yet (no rejection/offer). Is it something normal or the interview just didn't go as well as I thought?

It's an experienced hire for an SC role. I saw the posting is still open atm, and my guess is that the recruiting team is comparing candidates since competition is higher due to recent layoffs.

We have a big project going on and I am the only point person(initiate it, did lot of work, and knows the deets well), seems like my mgr wants to get a headcount. But I want to use this opportunity to get promoted, how can I get this across? Mgr is new(they fired my old mgr), mgr’s mgr is new too(re-org). So not sure if I should/can make a case, or how.

Arthur must be aware of the critical mismanagement of SR/P.S. Missed targets, declining revenue, continual layoffs. Why then does leadership still have jobs and allowed to protect themselves?

I’m finding that a weird side effect of losing my job in this climate is ad agencies taking advantage of my weakened position. They get in touch, proactively or in response to my reaching out, and they want to hire me as they are in good shape. When I reveal I was laid off, the offer changes to freelance or maybe nothing. My work, awards, the fact that they know me and approached me in the first place should be enough. I don’t want to lie about my situation. Any ideas how to avoid this?

I have an exit opp with a 30% increase. I should be grateful, especially to have a life raft when more layoffs are likely incoming, but all I feel is grief. Grief at leaving consulting, at having to move geographies. I don’t want to accept an offer when this is how I feel, even if the offer seems to make logical sense. How do I know what to do?

We are currently pregnant and at 20 weeks. My husbands was about to tell his manager about the pregnancy and paternity leave plans but then started to hear some layoff rumors which now seems inevitable. His project also did’t get extended (totally unexpected) and his team is getting released at the current client. Now he is unsure of if and when he should let his manager know. Just got laid off from PwC after nearly four years. This was my first job out of school and I'm actually not upset. PwC has treated me EXCEPTIONALLY well, and I see a lot of upside from here.

My background is in data analytics, process/performance improvement primarily within tax, accounting and business use case development, but I really want to find a new opportunity within analytical finance, transformation or bus dev/strat.

What do you do on the rare occasion when you have virtually no work?

Summer was busy with lots of long days and a handful of weekends. But I’ve had essentially zero to do all week.

Part of me feels guilty but then again I don’t because I don’t think my agency feels guilty for the long days/weekends.

On the other hand, we just had a round of layoffs so who knows if there are more coming down the pipeline.

Hello! I’m a PharmD with 6+ years experience in a clinical setting (hospital) and have been trying to break into the industry realm for about a year and a half now. Can anyone explain to me why it’s so hard?? 😂 Is it normal to take this long to find something? I’ve had maybe 4-5 interviews and the feedback I’ve gotten is they decided on someone with experience or someone internal (recently ghosted by a company after a panel interview as well). Just wondering if it’s worth it to continue trying.
