Do any firms have a family fun day? Something just for bringing the kids and family to for fun (bounce houses, games and activities). Seems like they’d invest a bit more since we’re working so much

We just did last weekend. Took my family, had a great time. I appreciate the firm supporting our families.

We did last Friday in Chicago. Bring your kids to work day all day (age 5+) followed by an open house on the river walk with face paint, bags, spin art, build a bear, tons of games, beer, wine, etc

Deloitte does, but driven by the local offices from what I’ve heard. My office has been really good with Halloween stuff, annual family picnic, etc

We do, but I have not partaken. Feels like an obligation + travelling farther than my neighborhood with the kiddo is a lot of effort. Granted he is <6 mos, might feel differently when he is a toddler.

We have get together at one of our offices where there are lots of locals .. but since we can live anywhere and don’t come in on fridays (for the traveling folks), that critical mass doesn’t exist in too many spots

Rented out a movie theater to see Incredibles 2 in Dallas last weekend. Dinner, drinks, popcorn, way too much candy

Hey fishies! Been a GVP consultant for 3.5 years now, hard work, tough “in trouble” clients, and just haven’t had the chance to work with a team long term! Non-MD so it’s hard to find companies that will hire me even though I teach in grad school and headed for my PhD. Any thoughts? Openings?

Do you all see a compelling future in your tax career? I’ll go first, I don’t see a compelling future working for a large PA firm in the long run because you have to work more as you move up. However, I do see a compelling future by using my knowledge and skills to open my own firm/business and work less hours as long as I make enough money which is $75k, or if I do work long hours, it’s because I want to.

Anyone had good multiple offers and had one the hiring managers pressure you into taking the offer after asking for additional time to think about it?

A company was ready to extend an offer two weeks ago but no updates yet. Now another recruiter from the same company reached out for a slightly different role. I’m still interviewing with other companies and would be open to learn more. What would be the best practice when it comes to different roles at the same company?
