Do you ever feel weird about earning more than your partner? I’ve been the primary breadwinner for a while now, and while we’ve made it work, there are moments where the dynamic feels…tense. I know we’re a team, but sometimes I sense discomfort from him around money decisions or even just lifestyle stuff. Has anyone else been in this position? How did you navigate it without letting resentment build up?

It feels weird for me. I’m in the private sector and my partner works in the government so at least we have similar professions but I make $100k/annually more than him. He’s more frugal than I am but we talk about it and make it work.

Same dynamic here. We finally made the decision to completely combine funds and that really took pressure off who earns what.

I feel like I have a completely different perspective. We were fairly young when we got married and everything was combined early on too. From making next to no money to decent, and everything in between. It was a dream when I started making more because hey, more money 💸

Jr. Associate at an AmLaw 100 firm in Central Florida. Good credentials; top 10% at T14, law review. Sick of private practice bc of hours and pressure. Also, not enjoying the work that Central Florida offers, but want to live here.

I want to one day have my own firm. Trying to think outside the box on how to get the experience w/o being in big law for ten years.

Thinking of applying to be an ASA and to the FL AGO. Would like trial experience or civil rights/con law work.

Thoughts appreciated!
