Do you include volunteer work on your resume? I want to present myself as involved and active, even if it's unpaid or part-time. If you do volunteer, what kinds of activities are you involved in?

I put it at the very bottom under “Leadership and Community Involvement” as a chair for a community board leader. I’ve received quite a few good questions about it and it has made for conversation. Also highlighted my leadership skills where I previously wasn’t in a management position.

I often talk about my volunteering experience in the interview because it showcases my personality, but I don't really have room on my résumé to include it. Especially with how little time the average recruiter has to review each application, it just doesn't seem like it carries as much weight as it used to, or is as valuable as something like education and experience.

I’ve started including it more recently. I used to leave it off, thinking it wasn’t ‘professional’ enough, but some volunteering roles have taught me quite a bit about management and teamwork.

I put it on my resume but my volunteer work is chair of a local political party. Shows my leadership abilities.

I've mentioned volunteer work at the bottom of my resume in its own concise section. As people tend to skim a resume on first look I'm not sure it really makes an impression. But I assume it can't hurt to indicate that you're someone who cares about something other than yourself.

I used to have volunteer work on my resume but that was back when I didn’t have much experience in anything and needed more to fill up my resume. Now my resume is so long I have to cut some things off of it so I no longer include volunteer work. I would really only include it if you have the space for it.

Most definitely put volunteer work at bottom of resume or if skills relevant to the posting list them in the Summary section up front then put details of the workplace and duration at bottom under Volunteer work. Not everyone does volunteer work It may determine you are the candidate they want over other comparable one.

We are renovating a condo and the previous owner had two Crane toilets (not sure how old, but functioning although seals are old according to our contractor). Back outlet flour mount ones are the only options for the building, and one toilet can cost $300-$500.

We are redoing all the bathroom tiles and walls and debating what we should do with the two toilets. Would resealing the toilets extend the use life? Or should we just replace the toilets? Any other recommendations? TIA!!

What are your thoughts on pay discrepancies based on family structure? Ex. Two people do the same job but one is paid more or given a larger bonus “because they have kids and you live alone” or “because their family is struggling”. Is that an ethical factor if both employees do the same job at the same pace, quality, etc?
