I do not. I think that the ALJs are happy not to see our clients in their hearing rooms. I think they are getting used to telephone hearings and they like them. I have talked to several other experienced attorneys and they agree. SSA is talking about video hearings, and I guess that will happen. But now that we have acquiesced to telephone hearings I don’t think we will see live hearings again.
An ALJ in Texas told me it would be:
- The client coming in to the office
The attorney coming into to office
-the Contract hearing reporter
ALJ will be on a screen just like pre COVID video hearings. VEs and MEs will be voice only.
So... Everything that makes it harder far the client, no upside for them at all.
