Do you work hard not to show when you're stressed or burning out? Or does it show in front of your reports?

Your smart reports can tell, at least the direct reports. Their ability to talk you off a ledge is a good thing, as long as it doesn’t get used too often.

In my last role, my manager/mentor and I would chat after frustrating calls with outside teams or when having to manage personnel issues. We kept each other balanced.

I try my hardest not to show it but I could never play poker. You can see it all over my face. I do try my hardest not to let it affect how I operate though. I still keep my cool and manage effectively even though inside, I am stressed to the max.

This is me! Bumped into a colleague when I was at my worst and still couldn't admit I was burned out to the max. Unfortunately for me, it was all over my face. Had to take a mental health day after some intervention.

I try to keep a cool exterior, but there are days when it might come through a bit. It's all part of being human, I guess.

Some days, I can hide it. Some days I can’t. When I can’t, it doesn’t take much to push my bottoms and send me spiraling out of control. Grateful for a supportive therapist. Healthcare SUCKS right now….trying to remain optimistic.

It's not always easy to hide my stress. Sometimes it shows in my face, my voice and my body language. My reports are smart.. they know when something's up.

In front of staff, yes. With trusted colleagues, (very few) I’ll vent or share my struggles within it helps keep me sane.

A mentor told me once though to not overshare with staff because the line between manager and “friend” can get blurry.

What are peoples opinions on work from home? It seems to be an unpopular opinion but as a junior I despise it. I work 3 feet from my bed, I find the barriers of a phone/email between me and a senior to add a huge amount of stress to my life and I think it’s stunting my career development at my firm because I can’t build relationships as effectively. I’ve never at all had mental health issues before but now am really starting to feel burnt out and anxious most of the time. What do you think?

Hey guys, I have the first short 15-minutes call with a product guy from Hugging Face today wherein he is likely going to take a guess at what roles I could be suitable for. I had applied for Post-Sale Machine Learning solutions Engineer. Is there anyone who’s gone through the process for a similar role at similar organisations or best case scenario would be if anyone has gone through the process with HF.
I have been working for a year and am doubtful if I’m mature enough for the role. Help lol
