Does anyone else feel like they are playing a character at work just to keep their sanity intact? The real me is quiet, introverted, and hates small talk, but my healthcare persona is loud, cheerful, and overly empathetic for 12 hours straight. It is a massive performative effort, and by the time I get to my car, my face actually hurts from smiling.

Yes. Unfortunately those of us that truly care about our patients are so exhausted trying to paddle upstream with 100 lbs of weight. It's hard some days not to completely loose it

Yes, and it contributed to my burnout.

Yes, I feel this everyday ! I am hyperfocused on my work load, but this makes me appear to others as having an attitude because I do not sit and goof off all day and play on my cell phone or face book all shift. Unfortunately , I am the minority at work. I do not fit in because I choose to actually do my job and not to goof off and socialize all day !!

Amen, Sister !!

I've been working at my current job for about a year now and I'm finally beginning to understand how the company works.

It's not easy, though. It's a small company, which means there are only a few of us in each department. There is no dedicated training team, so we all have to learn new things on the fly through trial-and-error or by asking our coworkers for help. The management team seems to be pretty hands off when it comes to project management and project direction, so it's up to us engineers to figure out how we want to spend our time and who we want to work with.

My practice got super busy after the pandemic. I have had a waitlist and been incredibly busy. It’s been stressful, but I have been grateful for business & to be helping people through a crazy time. This fall, I’ve noticed things slowing down and I don’t really know why. Has anyone else seen any similar trends (or know what might be going on)? TIA.

I currently work in Healthcare as a respiratory therapist for 10 years. I have been at my job, currently, for a little over 5 years. Alongside my bachelors degree I also have a masters degree in healthcare administration. Although, I am happy with my current position as a respiratory therapist, there seems to be not a lot career growth with where the department I currently work in within my healthcare system. I am wondering what doors/opportunities I have if I were to utilize my masters degree?
