I am seeing stellar returns and extremely low expense ratios but apparently since they're quantitatively managed algorithms, they don't account for things like corona for example.

Used to but stopped after heavy losses. Traded mostly in nifty and bank nifty.
I would suggest you don’t do it unless you have plenty of time to constantly monitor the market. Option selling looks extremely lucrative to people especially selling very OTM options. However even if one trade comes in the money, it’ll take away profits of many other profitable trades. Now whenever I do option selling (nifty and banknifty), I always do it with proper hedging.
Yup, realised it later.
Did for almost 3 years mostly covered calls based on technicals, but at the end balance sheet was not encouraging. At the same time Swing trading in equity gave very good returns so sticking to that.
I have been writing puts or covered calls on stocks for the past one year and have been earning equivalent to my take home per month consistently. In fact I have lost money whenever I have traded naked options. I do play with a significant capital so if my put is in ITM, I pick delivery and sell covered calls.
I don’t see any way this could be a loss making strategy COMPARED TO option buying. To emphasize - I am talking about stock specific option selling and not index.
@ZS1- what are you talking about? Theta decay is your best friend and this is probably the only strategy where you don’t have to constantly monitor!
C2: Exactly, after plenty of losses in option buying I've realised hedged option selling is the way to go. 2 questions :
1. Don't you feel stock options are riskier vs index
2. Any sources you'd recommend to learn more. Weblinks / Books / YT Channel.
Agree with C2. Try Zerodha streak for strategy building and alerts perspective. You will also have access to FII buying etc.
