I think managing a Pulmonary Unit (vents) is probably the top paying position within a SNF, but home care seems to to growing exponentially.
There is definitely a lot more money to be made in administration. I was a nurse for about 8 years, then made the switch after obtaining my Masters in Healthcare Administration. It is stressful and I hate dealing with politics, but the pay is excellent.
Especially with a Maters degree, but you definitely earn your money if you don’t mind the stress.
Look for a hospital that hires RT as ecmo specialist. You can grown at bedside, train to lead and with you mha manage a department at some point and make more than any position you might get staying in an RT department. I know I inquired about an RT manager position recently and they couldn’t afford my salary I currently make as ecmo.
I would say no because we’re protocol driven and aspects of that aren’t allowed in states with CRT licensure. You’d have to be RRT.
Administrator roles are super reliable and always have stable salaries. Many people want commission based roles or want years of schooling and you'd be the foundation of the whole operation.
I totally understand where you’re coming from. I have a BS in Health Science yet it’s hard to move up in the RT world. Other management positions only qualify nurses which is very unfortunate.
