Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.
What do you think?

I think that I feel the same way. I am emotionally, physically, and mentally exhausted.
You have to create a work/home balance. Prioritize what's super important to you and make it work.

This is a good idea, if I could figure out how to make it happen.
It’s like there’s no off switch sometimes, right? Teaching is rewarding, but it really does take a toll. I’ve started taking small mental health days when I can, even if it’s just one day during the weekend to rest. The work will still be there, but your well-being is important too. Winter break might be chaotic, but hopefully, it gives you some time to breathe!

Every break is enjoyable and needed. I used to hate being away from school, but things have changed.
I start to feel like that at times and I make an effort to take a step back and think about what I'm doing. I'm usually able to make some corrections, primarily making sure that I'm more protective of my own time. It's easy to just get pulled into helping people and extending yourself and before you know it, hardly any hours in the day belong to you.

I find that i am volunteering a lot less now than I use to. I am considering canceling one of my Drama Club events. There's just too much!
Honestly, I’m pretty sure having your whole life taken over by work and work. Stress is pretty much in a job requirement when you become a public school teacher. I don’t know any teacher that isn’t completely concerned by their job and overwhelmed with stress I I don’t know how we get past it.
I’ve learned to put myself first, I leave when the bell rings. Doesn’t make me any less caring or effective as a teacher, I’ve done the job both ways and realized that it really is ok to do self care and live life outside of work!
I have learned a few things over the years about work- life balance. It is tough to achieve but doable with the right mindset. Some things that have worked for me are:
1. Set working hours for yourself and stick to them. Don’t start working until your set time and then stop at the time you have decided to set for yourself.
2. Leave work at work. Be present for your family and yourself.
3. Work smarter, not harder. Set up and reinforce consistent routines for your students so you don’t waste time on the small steps. Do not reinvent the wheel with curriculum and materials. Use what you have already made in multiple ways creatively.
4. Be organized: this way you do won’t waste time looking for things or remaking things you think you might have but can’t find… so you prep them again.
5. Prioritize the things that are important and let the other things go.
6. Stay healthy: Eat well, exercise in a way that you enjoy, and sleep!
7. Remember that you are a person with your own needs, thoughts, feelings, ideas, and passions. Being a teacher is your career but it is not the only thing you are. Make time for you to be you.
In order for you to be the best teacher you can be, you have to be balanced and have healthy boundaries so you can be in it for the long haul. Otherwise, you risk burn out and you won’t be the kind of teacher you want to be.

These steps are a good thing. I need to print this off and put it on my desk. The grading period is ending soon. This may be something I can work on in the upcoming year.
