I had this happen to me as a student teacher and had to find a second placement. I was bad at first but ten years later I am a little less bad. I attribute my inadequacies to nerves and anxiety mostly. I had the knowledge I just really struggled with some of the delivery and had to learn some really hard lessons. I don’t think I am top tier nor do I strive to stick out in the teaching world, but I have had a kid or two come back and tell me I helped them through a tough spot. Instead of looking down on them try giving them feedback that could help them shore up where they are weakest. Confidence also helps so giving them some easier tasks early can help them build momentum.

I find it depends on their age. The young ones, yes they are terrible. They often come off as arrogant because they think they know how to do everything better than an experienced teacher. Also there's the problem of young workers perceiving a false pressure to appear confident by knowing everything. Many of them are afraid to ask questions and even act like they understand things that they don't.
Also consider that some of them have never had a job of any kind before. This is highly problematic as they lack basic work skills.
Older student teachers are more often pretty good. They have a better understanding of what's expected and have dropped the "I know everything" act. Occasionally we get a weird one though.

So technically I've never been a student teacher. I graduated college at age 50 and started working at my school in the year 2020. I was considered a resident teacher basically learning on the job. I went through 3 years of hell did the edtpa and finally got my license here! I do understand that younger teachers right out of college do have kind of. I know everything, attitude and the more seasoned teachers do. Kind of not like that. I of course did not have that type of attitude since I've lived a full life and this is my second career. But I get what you're saying I have never had to deal with one yet!

Greetings i agree with you. Totally different culture, behavior etc. To me, it is rough. You have to prepare youself for student teaching snd i am noe talkingaboutacademics...i am talking about the multitue of personalities that you WILL ecounter. As an educatorin a self contained middle school classroom...whew..
I had to pray daily through my school experience. It took a while, but i will honestly say that I SURVIVED. I understand we are in a new generation and rules have changed...so we must adapt to those changes. Keep in mind that we do have to keep our end up. We are 'called' and 'dedicated' to TEACH!
