The unending cycle is for real. Reached my LeanFIRE number 2 months ago, yet I don’t feel satisfied. Still reaching for the stars… when will this human desire end?

It never ends. You’ll keep working to aim for fatfire and just retire at normal retirement age.

Maybe you should aim for FatFIRE instead

Reached a stage last year where I started to consider taking a paycut for a slower pace work.

After interviewing for a year, I turned down all others with great wlb and ended up at a place with significant pay raise with more work.

Such is life 🤣 there is no magic number…

Lock in a level of consumption at which you would be happy *if you had total time freedom from work you don’t like*. Then FIRE to that level. 👍

Basically

Seems like most of us have a case of the golden handcuffs.

We need to learn how to get out of saving mode and to spend what we build up.

I have multiple benchmarks that would make me feel increasingly secure:

1.2M - 48k/yr at 4% SWR
1.5M - 60k/yr at 3.3% SWR
1.9M - 60k/yr at 3.3% SWR

Currently at 1.18M. But the critical mass that I accumulate is only going to feel like a minimum sense of security, and I'll probably still want to continue to earn so that I look like someone with a real job or whatever... And still hesitate to spend

I feel like I should be doing more with extra money to help us financially, but I’m scared of having to study stocks and understand the numbers. 😖
